How casino culture cultivates Berlin’s culture!

We were there!

And so, this year as well, we mobilized our dealers-those wizards of chance-to hand out chips like laurel wreaths to journalists, politicians, and artists, ensuring top-class casino entertainment.

Act 1: Bundespresseball, or Chips for Press Freedom

Since 1951, 2,500 high-ranking guests from politics, business, and culture have gathered here. The Bundespresseball is held annually in the Federal Republic of Germany and stands under the motto “For Press Freedom!”-a cause that Spielbank Berlin is happy to support.

Act 2: B.Z. Culture Prize-Bronze Bears for the Culturally Outstanding

Since 1991, the B.Z. has awarded its Bear to artists who contribute as much to Berlin’s cultural and artistic diversity as a straight flush does to winning a poker round. Last year, Felix Lobrecht (the one with the cheeky mouth) met Margot Friedländer (102 years old, Holocaust survivor). This year, Daniel Brühl and Die Fantastischen Vier were among the big winners.

And who won? In truth, everyone did: the organizers, the guests, and also the Spielbank, which managed to reach and convince people who may never have had any contact with our casino before.
