Spielbank Berlin becomes the meeting point for Germany’s best dealers

Spielbank Berlin celebrated the Olympics of croupiers

German Dealer Championship 2026

From April 28 to 30, 2026, Spielbank Berlin became the center of the German casino industry: the fourth German Dealer Championship (GDC) brought together the country’s best dealers in the capital to showcase their skills.

The 4th GDC in the Capital

Since its debut in 2023, the German Dealer Championship has firmly established itself in the industry calendar. After stops in Schenefeld, Baden-Baden, and Bad Wiessee, the competition was held in Berlin for the first time. Qualified croupiers from across Germany took part, accompanied by jury members and representatives of their respective casinos.

For the top participants, it was not only about the national title—they also secured a place in the European Dealer Championship, where Europe’s best dealers compete.

Berlin as the Ideal Venue

With its central location, modern facilities, and international appeal, Spielbank Berlin provided the perfect setting for an event of this scale. Following its 50th anniversary last year, hosting the championship once again underlined the casino’s role as a key meeting point for the industry. At the same time, Spielbank Berlin demonstrated its commitment as an employer: through targeted training programs, development opportunities, and international prospects, it invests in the future of the profession and actively promotes both emerging talent and experienced professionals.

The Dealer as Host

The competition highlighted a profession that is often underestimated. Dealers are far more than just game operators: they combine mathematical thinking with quick reactions and a keen sense for people. Whether at the roulette or blackjack table, they ensure smooth operations, maintain control even in demanding situations, and play a key role in shaping the overall gaming experience.

“A good dealer is an entertainer, host, and game manager all in one. They stand for precision and style—and play a decisive role in making a visit to the casino truly memorable,” says Mehmet Celikoglu, Managing Director of Spielbank Berlin.

Demanding Disciplines and Fair Evaluation

In the competition, participants competed in the main disciplines of American Roulette and Blackjack. In addition to technical skill, presentation, composure, and interaction with guests played a central role in the evaluation. The program was complemented by several side events that required specific abilities—such as fast and precise chip handling, card dealing, or the accurate calculation of payouts.

These disciplines reflected the day-to-day work in a casino: concentration, speed, and social competence seamlessly intertwine. An independent jury of experienced industry representatives ensured an objective evaluation and guaranteed that performances were assessed at a high professional level.

The German Dealer Championship kicked off on April 28 with the draw and an initial networking session. On April 29, the competitions took place at Spielbank Berlin at Potsdamer Platz, where participants competed against each other in several rounds. The event concluded on April 30 with the final and the award ceremony. In addition to trophies and prize money, the winners also qualify for the European Dealer Championship.

The winners were honored at the grand award ceremony held at the Hyatt. With this event, Spielbank Berlin once again set a strong example of quality and professionalism within the industry.
