Spielbank Berlin is setting benchmarks: on the path to international dealing standards
The Berlin Dealer Championship 2026 is more than just a competition—it reflects a clear ambition: Spielbank Berlin aims not only to meet high international standards, but to surpass them.
Managing Director Mehmet Celikoglu emphasizes the importance of continuously supporting and training Berlin’s dealers in order to elevate the quality of the dealing profession to a top European level. His stated goal: “In the future, we want to see German participants on the winners’ podium at the European Dealer Championship.”
From the Berlin Dealer Championship to the German Dealer Championship 2026
The Berlin Dealer Championship is a significant milestone on the road to the German Dealer Championship 2026, which will take place in Berlin this year.
Participating casinos nominate their best dealers after holding internal competitions. An expert jury from the industry evaluates the candidates in various disciplines—from technical skills to service quality and game control.
The top participants from across Germany then compete against each other to win the title “German Dealer Champion 2026”, potentially taking the first step toward a European title.
Precision, skill, and hospitality: the role of a dealer
A dealer is far more than a game operator. They are a host, entertainer, rule enforcer, and representative of the casino all at once. Their key responsibilities include:
- Conducting games at roulette, blackjack, or poker tables
- Accepting bets and paying out winnings
- Monitoring gameplay to ensure fairness and security
- Providing customer service that creates a pleasant atmosphere
The role demands the highest levels of concentration, mathematical skill, and psychological sensitivity. Only a small number of applicants meet all requirements. Two-thirds of trainees drop out of the demanding program; of those who remain, only about half pass the final exam.
In addition to quick reactions and strong memory, elegance and precision in handling chips, cards, and rake are hallmarks of true excellence. Modern technical knowledge is also increasingly part of the profession, as casino games and processes continue to evolve.
The competitions: proving skill
At the German Dealer Championship 2026, dealers’ abilities are tested in multiple disciplines, primarily roulette and blackjack. Each participant completes 20 minutes per game in front of a jury acting as simulated guests. The evaluation criteria include:
- Hospitality, demeanor, and communication skills
- Technical abilities, such as payouts, chip cutting, and game pace
- Game control, including precise timing, clarity of announcements, and adherence to rules
Additionally, roulette and blackjack assessments are conducted, where chip cutting, card handling, stack pushing, chipping, float management, and mathematical accuracy are tested under time pressure.
Quality as a commitment
For Spielbank Berlin, promoting young talent and ensuring the highest dealing standards is a central priority. The Berlin Dealer Championship 2026 not only provided participants with a platform for competition, but also offered opportunities to improve their skills through training videos and practical exercises.
The overarching goal remains clear: to meet—and exceed—European standards.
As Managing Director Mehmet Celikoglu emphasizes, Spielbank Berlin sees itself as a pioneer of excellence in dealing in Germany:
“We invest in skill, attitude, and passion—because professionalism at the gaming table is no coincidence.”
